The 2024 Buganda Masaza Cup football season kicked off on Saturday, June 22nd at the Kasana playground in Luweero.
Reigning champions Bulemeezi lost 0-1 to Buluuli in the opening match, with Robert Ssewanyana scoring the only goal. This weekend, eight games will be played across three groups to complete Matchday one.
Starting off on Saturday, Simon Ndugga’s Buddu will begin their campaign for a third title against Butambala in Kibibi, while Buvuma will host Mawokota at Magyo in the Masengere group opener.
On Sunday, six games will be played across different groups. In Gayaza, Kyaddondo, who are hungry for their second ever title will battle Bugerere at Homisdallen. At Kabulasoke, Gomba lions will launch their search for the 6th title with a battle against Kyaggwe, who impressed in a couple of friendly games.
Singo, who won their last title in 2018 will seek for their third ever title when they travel to Mubende to face Felix Ssekabuza Kawooya’s Buwekula. To wrap up the day and Matchday one will be 2022 champions Busiro taking on Busujju at Ssentema.
