Next season will start on Saturday 5th July 2025 and end on Saturday 1st November 2025

The Masaza Cup 2025 season opening dates have been confirmed, with the opening match round starting on Saturday 5th July 2025 the sports ministry has announced on this morning.

The 2025 Masaza Cup season will conclude on 1st November 2025, the highlight of football’s club calendar returning for the 20th time.

The Kingdom’s premium sporting event brings together 18 teams representing all the Masaza (Counties) of Buganda and is played on a home and away basis in the groups before qualifying teams proceed to knock-out stages up to the finals.

Each team will play 10 games at the group stage, the 8 teams that qualify for the quarter finals will play two leg fixture that will see four team at the semi finals who will also play a two leg fixture. Fans will be entertained to a epic final and a third place play off to close off the season.

Masaza Cup is the epitome of pride, loyalty and football talent development in Uganda, where only about 450 players (who don’t play in the top 2 tiers of the national league) get a chance to play for one of the
counties in an event that attracts over 320,000 fans across the 104 games played in a four months period and fills up any local stadium with ease, promoting unity amongst all people leaving in the geographical location of Buganda, while giving football lovers across the nation a unique event and experience of culture, modernity and sport worth being part of, with an estimated media reach of over 8 million people.

What do the Masaza Cup winners get?

Victors walk away with a prize of shs12 million while the runners-up received shs9 million. Third placed team is awarded shs 7 million.
