The first leg of the Buganda Masaza Cup quarterfinals kicked off on Sunday, with Buddu, Buwekula, Kyaggwe, and Kyaddondo securing crucial victories.
Two-time competition winners, Buddu, earned a 2-0 away win against Kabula, thanks to goals from Acram Juma Katende and Mike Walaga.
Katende opened the scoring in the first half, while Walaga sealed the win with a second-half goal.
Fahad Aniku’s first-half goal was enough to give Felix Ssekabuza’s side an advantage going into the second leg.
In another closely contested match, Kyaddondo triumphed 1-0 over Busujju, with Samuel Kisozi netting the only goal of the game in the first half.
Meanwhile, Kyaggwe exacted revenge on Ssingo with a 1-0 win, courtesy of David Mugalu’s first-half strike. Ssingo had previously defeated Kyaggwe home and away during the group stages.
The return leg fixtures are scheduled for September 29, with the aggregate winners advancing to the semifinals.
