The iconic Muteesa II Memorial Stadium, Wankulukuku, will once again be the center of Buganda's biggest football celebration—a stage for memories, happiness, and heartbreak—as it hosts the Grand Final of the Airtel Buganda Masaza Cup 2026.

The Buganda Kingdom Ministry of Sports confirmed that the 22nd edition of the tournament, which kicked off on June 13th with Buweekula versus Kyadondo, will climax at Wankulukuku on October 31st, 2026.

This marks a return to tradition. For over four years, the Masaza Cup finals were held at Wankulukuku while Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, was under renovation.

Last year, the final returned to Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, where Buweekula beat Ssingo to claim their first title in front of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II. This year, the Kingdom has decided to bring the final back home to Wankulukuku—the spiritual home of Buganda football.

Named after Kabaka Muteesa II, the stadium is owned by the Buganda Kingdom and has hosted some of the most memorable Masaza finals, including Busiro's dramatic 2–1 victory over Buddu.

Currently home to SC Villa and Maroons FC in the Uganda Premier League, Wankulukuku offers the atmosphere, security, and cultural attachment that the Kingdom desires for its flagship tournament.

Situated in Lubaga Division, Kampala, the stadium is easily accessible to fans from all 18 teams.

Road to Wankulukuku
The 2026 edition features 18 Masaza divided into three groups—Bulange, Muganzirwazza, and Masengere. After a grueling 104 matches in the group stage, eight counties have advanced to the quarterfinals:

• Gomba vs Buddu

• Busujju vs Butambala

• Mawogola vs Kyaggwe

• Bugerere vs Kyaddondo

The winners will battle for a place in the semifinals, with the ultimate dream being to lift the coveted trophy at Wankulukuku.

The final day will feature both the third-place playoff and the Grand Final. Ticket prices are expected to remain at Shs 20,000 for ordinary, Shs 50,000 for VIP, and Shs 100,000 for VVIP, as in previous years.

Airtel Uganda, Centenary Bank, Plascon, and other sponsors have reaffirmed their support for the tournament, which has produced Uganda Cranes stars such as Farouk Miya.
