Ssekabuza-Led St. Mark's Eyes Glory in Packed Buganda Schools Football Draw

Six days before the start of the Buganda Schools games on Thursday, March 5, a draw was held at Bulange, with 38 teams confirmed for the boys' football competition.

Meanwhile, Cranimmer Kitenda has confirmed that they are ready to defend their trophy.

St. Mark High School Kayunga, a school hoping to field a stronger team under Coach Felix Ssekabuza, is one to watch. Ssekabuza won last year's Buganda Masaza Cup tournament with Buweekula and also guided St. Julian Mukono to the USSSA National Championship in 2024.

The draw placed host Kawanda Secondary School in Group D alongside top-performing schools, including Highway SS Kiganda and Greenlight Islamic School, making this group the most competitive.

Last season’s finalist, Buddo SS, was drawn in Group I with emerging football school God’s Way High School Maganjo, while the group also includes Caltec Academy Makerere.

Following the draws, the Chairman of the Buganda Schools Organizing Committee, Gerald Katamba, called for a massive turnout to match the high level of participation from schools.

“We have already received 90% of the teams that took part in last year’s competition, and in addition, we have attracted many schools that are coming for the first time. Therefore, I call upon people from sports circles to come and witness talent development in Buganda Schools.”

With 48 teams in last year’s edition, the organizing committee has left the registration window open, hoping for more schools to register late.
